Miley Cyrus' Real Reason for Quitting Marijuana Is Pretty Terrifying

Miley Cyrus' recent transformation has been one of the most drastic in pop-star history. The singer essentially went from bonkers to bluegrass: She swapped the twerking and inflatable penises for messy hair, cut-up denim shorts, and T-shirts. Her new single, "Malibu," is remarkably more relaxed and clear than her last two records. And there's a reason for that: She stopped smoking weed. Cyrus revealed to Billboard magazine in May that she's currently not drinking or doing any drugs—a surprising revelation given the fact that weed was an integral component of her Bangerz and Dead Petz eras. She told Billboard that dropping weed was "easy" and that she did it so this stage of her life could be "super clear and sharp."

And she reiterated this Wednesday night (June 14) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “I’m actually the most passionate about what I’m doing with this record than I’ve been—I say this every time, but I loved making this record so, so much,” she said to host Jimmy Fallon. “And this record at this moment is the most important album that I’ve ever made. So I wanted to make sure that I was super clear in the way I’m talking.”

But that's not the only reason Cyrus kicked cannabis. The "Wrecking Ball" singer also told Fallon last night about a nightmare she had where she died on Saturday Night Live from smoking too much grass.

“I had a dream that I would die during my monologue on SNL for some reason, that I would just get so stoned that I just died, which I googled and that’s never happened,” she said. Yikes. Terrifying, right?

Another tidbit from her sit-down with Fallon: She's been stoned for essentially all her Tonight Show appearances. “‘Member the last time I was here? I was dressed as a bunny rabbit and then like a cat. There’s a reason for that: I was high," she said.

Check out a snippet of her interview, below:

Real talk, though: Cyrus' attitude about her former, more eccentric image is incredibly refreshing. If her candor is any indication of what her upcoming album will sound like, we're in for a fun (and very honest) ride.

Family declines autopsy for U.S. student released by North Korea

An Ohio coroner, abiding by family wishes, has performed an external examination instead of a full autopsy on the body of the U.S. student who was held prisoner in North Korea for 17 months and sent home in a coma, the agency said on Tuesday. The Hamilton County Coroner's Office was still conferring on Tuesday with doctors at a Cincinnati hospital who were treating Otto Warmbier, 22, before reaching any conclusions about his death a day earlier, investigator Daryl Zornes said. Investigators also were continuing to review radiological images and awaiting additional medical records requested by the coroner, Zornes said. He declined to estimate how long it would take for the coroner's office to complete its inquiry. Preliminary autopsy findings had been expected later on Tuesday or on Wednesday. There was no immediate word from the family about why relatives declined an autopsy, which may have shed more light on the cause of the neurological injuries that left him in a com...

Uber Founder Travis Kalanick Resigns as C.E.O

Uber Founder Travis Kalanick                                                                                                     Travis Kalanick stepped down Tuesday as chief executive of Uber, the ride-hailing service that he helped found in 2009 and that he built into a transportation colossus, after a shareholder revolt made it untenable for him to stay on at the company. Mr. Kalanick’s exit came under pressure after hours of drama involving Uber’s investors, according to two people with knowledge of the situation, who asked to remain anonymous because the details are confidential. Earlier on Tuesday, five of Uber’s major investors demanded that the chief executive resign immediately. The investors included one of Uber’s biggest ...
